should i buy Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot reviews

Easy to set up, sturdy, and comfortable. I am very pleased with this cot, and a bargain to boot! When I saw the weight limit at 250 lbs. I had my doubts since I "approach" that weight, and with blankets. sleeping bags, etc., the total probably goes over, but I had no problems. I did have some anxiety the first time I used it on an unlevel tent floor, since it looks like that can overstress the legs. Now I try to find the most level spot I can, and try not to set it up directly in line with a slope, because there is no bracing in that direction. In the cabin it was solid as a rock, and slept better than my bed at home.
This cot is sturdy, stable, and well-structured. A cot of this quality,
usually, costs twice the price offered at Amazon.com. I am extremely pleased
with my purchase, and highly recommend the Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot. I was getting ready to go camping a few months after some serious back surgery, so I decided to purchase a cot. After reading the reviews, I purchased this Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot. It is wonderful. Easy to assemble and disassemble. It fits nicely in the carrying bag which has a strong handle. Quite comfy for a cot. I liked it so much, I bought two more for my kids. When it rained while we were camping, we were all thankful to be up off the wet ground. Great product! I bought this as a temporary bed until I get moved and buy a new one. Add a couple of comforters folded up on top of it to lay on and it is quite comfortable. Otherwise a little hard. Seems sturdy but could be sturdier. Overall, it serves my needs well. The cot is very well built. It is hard to put together when your trying to get the final piece stretched by yourself. It also make squeaking sounds when you move around on it. I bought it because i wanted to camp with my family for 4th of July and am unable to sleep directly on the ground due to multiple back surgeries and hardware attached to my spine. The cot i had hoped would allow me to sleep and not wake up in total pain. I woke up pretty sore and really stiff but after moving around a bit most of it worked out. I recommend the cot for regular people who don't have back problems. I purchased this for our 8 year old to sleep during camping trips. The cot is easy to put together and is sturdy. Watch out for the plastic covers on the legs - they come off and we didn't notice it at first, so the metal leg on the cot ripped the floor of our brand new tent :( Giving it 3 stars, because the plastic covers should be more secure on the cot... I needed something to sleep on for a long music festival and was unconvinced that a sleeping pad--however much I paid for it--would afford me the same comfort as getting off the ground. So I bought a cot. THIS cot. And it was excellent! Very easy to set up and very comfortable. Glad I bought it and can see myself getting plenty of use out of it in the future. Plus, the price was right. I thought a $50 cot would be a real gamble, but it was sturdy and well-made. First off, I only purchased the Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot about a month ago but I have already racked up four nights of sleep on it and I feel like that is enough to render a detailed opinion on the product, at least with regards to things other than longevity.

So the thing I noticed first about the cot was that it really does seem quite sturdy. I was originally torn between purchasing this cot and a different one from a local retailer that was listed for only like thirty bucks or so, but obviously ended up going with the Texsport. I knew within days of my purchase that I had made the right choice - I was out camping with a couple of friends and I brought my Texsport Cot while two of my friends brought their less expensive cots. As soon as we all unpacked the cots, I could tell that mine was of much greater quality than the ones my friends had brought. My cot was much heftier (in a good way - not bulky or unnecessarily heavy, just sturdy) than theirs and while I'm no expert on metals or welds or anything, it was clear that my cot was much stronger and would hold more weight than my friends cots. I know the listed weight limit of the cot is 250 lbs, but I weigh around 170, and I felt like the cot could have held another one of me and been fine.

The second majorly important thing for me with the cot was its length. I stand approx. 6'2" and I was worried about whether or not the cot would be long enough or if my feet and ankles would be totally hanging off. I am pleased to say that I fit on the cot just fine. Its listed length is 75" or 6'3" and I've had numerous experiences with other products from other companies that advertise certain lengths for stuff but that do not meet those stated #'s but that was not the case with Texsport. I was able to put a pillow at one end of the Cot and still fit my whole frame on the cot. I'm really glad I didn't purchase the oversized version of this cot as it worked fine for me, and I reckon would work great for anyone 6'2" and below, and still pretty decently for people 6'3" & 6'4".

Finally, the last thing I wanted to address was the overall comfort of the cot. While it's not quite as nice to sleep on as say an air-mattress (or a real mattress on a bed), I found it to be more comfy than all but the plushest, most padded, sleeping bags. My only minor complaint about the entire product is that if you tend to sleep on your side, like I do, that that position is not the most comfortable when using the cot. That's not a flaw of just this Texsport cot though, but really just a flaw of camping cots in general (unless maybe if you got an extra wide cot?) so I cannot mark the cot down for it. One other added benefit of the cot over say a plush, padded sleeping bag, or even an air mattress, is that a cot keeps you off the ground when you are sleeping. So when you go camping in hot climes, you aren't just lying on the ground and sweating because of the lack of airflow underneath you (also b/c the ground holds heat).

All in all, I totally recommend this cot for anyone who cannot sleep on sleeping bags or air mattresses either for health reasons or b/c the weather won't permit it (i.e. waaaay too hot) as it is very sturdy, long enough for the vast majority of people, and relatively comfy in comparison to other methods of sleeping that are typically available on camping trips. I bought the Earth Jamboree Cot 1st, then the Texaport. The Texasport is a far better cot & around $20 less! The other has bells & whistles of the side hanging pocket and pillow but what we care about is a good night's sleep. The Texsport is tight & quiet. The Military one creaks. Other than the Velcro pockets, they're pretty much the same except the Texsport is a lot tighter & more comfortable. Wish I'd bought the Texsport 1st, then I would've looked no further. Love this cot! It folds up to the size of a camp chair and has a carrier and I love that it doesn't take up a lot of cargo room. It's also really easy to assemble and is comfortable. Have slept on this for a few nights, is holding up nicely. I'm not a big guy, but noticed it can support two people sitting on it like a couch, so I imagine it can hold weight nicely. Pretty easy setup too. I bought this cot primarily because of the positive reviews that had already been posted when I was researching cots. So I ordered one. Extremely fast shipping even though I elected the "free shipping" option.

So I get the cot and set it up in the bedroom. Very easy to set up and the fabric was plenty tight. I slept on it. Very comfortable. My wife slept on it. Same reaction. She wanted one, so I bought another.

We took both cots with us last week for a 3 night camping trip. We are both quite sold. They are light, they are comfortable, and so easy to set up.

Of course, 3 nights is no long term test, but I am thinking that the steel legs coupled with the aluminum frame should spell durability.

I think the price/value equation for this product is extremely positive. I rolled the dice when I bought it. So far I am extremely pleased.
