When you're away from home and want some added comfort to your cot or
sleeping bag, try an ALPS self inflating air pad. With the lightweight
series, the pad will inflate and deflate quickly with the jet stream
foam and roll up compactly to fit into the stuff sack. The top fabric is
tough, lightweight Ripstop and the bottom is polyester taffeta. Another
benefit of adding an air pad is that it will help keep you warmer,
which is essential to a well rested night. A stuff sack, compression
straps, and repair kit are included with every pad.
It was difficult to find the measurements online for the different sizes of these pads.
Here are the details that come with the product when you buy it.I have a Thermorest I spent twice the money on, This Pad is LIGHTER,
THICKER, and better built. I am back to buy another because now my
daughter even refuses to use the thermorest.
This pad give great R
factor in added warmth, has a large valve for inflation/deflation. It is
built like steel and weighs like silk.
I am a 350 lb backpacker and I never touch ground with the support this pad offers.
My husband and I purchased two of these for our church youth trek last
week. I'm NOT an outdoors person and was dreading sleeping at night on
the ground. We've tried lots of other camping pads through the years
including Thermarest, but these XL size pads (77 x 30) meant my sleeping
bag didn't slide off the pad during the night. The pads are remarkably
comfortable and as a side sleeper I didn't once feel the ground on my
hip or side. My husband's a big guy and he also loves this pad - tall
enough and wide enough for him. It is easy to inflate (most of it
inflates automatically) and easy to roll back into its compact size.
Lightweight, durable materials too. Almost convinced me that sleeping
in the great outdoors is worth it!Several notes for you to consider:
1)I DID have to use about
20-25 breathes to blow it up. It's not quite as self inflating as I
hoped. 2)It was hard to quickly deflate! It took several efforts to roll
& unroll to get it pack ready again.
3)On the good side, it
seemed well made & sturdy. I found it at a reasonable price & it
stayed well inflated all night (THAT is a plus!).
My foam pad is
fast, easy, lighter & cheap.... If I'm going to pack a roll I guess
I might as well us the old style foam since it packs the same width
& diameter, & takes no additional efforts to useWe ordered 2 regulars and 2 longs, figuring we could use the regular for
backpacking and our kids could use them in the mean time. Wow what a
difference $15 makes! The long was WAY more cushy and comfortable. It
was not much bigger rolled up in size (but twice as thick inflated).
Both were comfy to lay on but if you're trying to decide, get the long!
I bought this for camping. It's easy to use and light to carry. Great
for packing. Just feel the price should be lower for something pretty
simple. We paid for about $74 for this pad. I also bought an queen size
air mattress at Costco for only about $35. This air pad is good if you
really want to go for something light and and can be packed tight.Self-inflates easily, rolls back up to a small tight cylinder, provides
good comfort. My hips were hurting with my old foam pad. I was
concerned about the thinness of this one, but I just spent a very
comfortable week on it. So glad I bought it.I bought this thinking that when NOT inflated, it would be lower profile
than my regular air mattress. My husband has a small inflatable
backpacking/mountaineering air mattress it is tiny. This is really
comfortable, not too slippery, easy to inflate, comes in a bag with a
handle. But it isn't much smaller uninflated than inflated, and it
takes up a ton of room in my trunk.
That being said I have
trouble sleeping even in certain beds, and this thing was great, comfy, I
didn't wake up at all. XL size fit both me and one of my toddlers on a
recent camping trip. Also low profile enough that my kids sleeping on
mats next to me were at around the same height from the ground.
five
stars for comfort, but minus one because everyone will make fun of you,
the one with the enormous air mattress. Definitely not for hiking!
the self inflation works as the instructions indicate (and this is a
treat). A good mat that is the right size for me and it is very sturdy.
I am glad I bought it! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a
well-cushioned pad.I purchased this pad and read all of the instructions. I inflated the
night before my trip and let it sit out overnight. The first night of my
3 day camping trip was great. I let it inflate on it's own for 15
minutes then finished it off by blowing a little air in to it manually.
The 2nd night I woke up in the middle of the night with a big air bubble
at the foot of my pad. How does this happen? I've never experienced
this before. It's too bad because I was pretty pleased with my purchase
up until that point.
This is an inflatable mat. It is NOT an air mattress. I wasn't really
sure what I was getting when I ordered this, but I knew I didn't want to
sleep on the ground in the mountains for 10 days, so I ordered 6 for my
whole family. This mat has one valve that opens to let air in. The
auto-inflate was really handy and the kids loved to watch it blow up. It
blows up to be about an inch and a half tall. We did blow a couple
extra puffs of air into it to get it to full, but it was mostly up on
its own. It was very firm to lay on and really diminished the rocks
under us. I couldn't believe how light-weight it is to carry and it
packs up pretty quickly and goes easily into its sack with a handle. I'd
highly recommend this to anyone going on a longer camping trip or
backpacking. It does not have the "gripper" dots on the bottom and it
does tent to slide on the tent floor a bit, but a plain sleeping bag
does that too.
