should i buy Pragma Bed® Mattress Platform reviews

Frame Open: 80"W x 60"D x 14"H Frame Folded: 23"W x 30.25"D x 10.75"H Flame Boxed: 32"W x 25"D x 12"H Finish: Black Material: Metal Queen Size Quad - Fold Bed Frame Provide maximum comfort during your most relaxing hours of the day, and versatile enough to be quadruple folded in under 15 seconds. Can be stored in a bed or closet, a queen-sized quad-fold Pragma Bed* frame only requires 23* x 30.25* x 10.75* of storage space. The Pragma Bed* bed base is engineered with heavy-duty wire mesh, which serves as a complete mattress support system that will not bend or sag over time. Provides a flat, sturdy, squeak-free base for your new memory foam mattress or even your old spring mattress. The bed base also provides you with more space than many other beds out there. The bed sits 14* off the ground, creating 38.69 cubic feet of storage space. Pragma Bed* bases do not require a box spring. The strong yet lightweight design can resist up to 1200 pounds per queen bed frame. The weight of the bed frame is 45 pounds only. Pragma Bed* frames are strong enough to withstand jumping, yet light enough to be carried up the steps. Unfold bed frame and snap legs into place. Using the two included screws, place them through the two holes and fasten the two pieces together. Place bed in desired location. If you wish to store your Pragma Bed* frame, just fold it up and hide it away. No tools assembly required. So after reading reviews, I decided to give it a shot. My conclusion is as long as you put it together correctly, works flawlessly with 12 legs and very strong. So this is what you need to know. After pulling it out of box and unfolding them and putting them side by side and putting 2 very easy bolts through it to secure them together, I noticed the legs on the head and feet of the frame are collapsible so if you were obviously trying to move it or sit on it, the legs may fold in. So im like ok now I know why some of these reviews are like this. So im looking at the one BUT!! if you look closely at the head and feet of frames there are 2 wing nuts on each side screwed on the frame just chillin there. Then across from those nuts are two free standing bars tucked underneath. So i was like ahhhh thats what you do. Very surprised not in instructions. You twist the bar around to the screw, which had the wing nut on it that you removed and you secure it with that nut. And you do that to all four of them, two at head and two and feet, and bammm your frame is like a brick house.
Now if you are like me and bought this for a memory foam mattress then you are going to home depot and buying two sheets of like 11/32 plywood cut 29 1/2 by 80 and you are going to put that on top of the frame. ( i secured them with drilling 4 holes and using 4 zip ties to secure it to frame, but im just crazy like that.) then you put memory foam on top of that and you are in heaven for under 200 bucks.
So i would definitely recommend this! We bought this bed 6 months ago, at first we thought it was wonderful. We purchased it because we couldn't get the box spring up the stairs, and we needed a quick solution. The frame squeaks every time you roll over right from the start, at about month 3 we noticed that the bottom portion of the frame was starting to bend on both sides, and the legs to the frame are not very sturdy at all! Last night when our dog was laying on the bed alone (she is 85 lbs) the middle of the frame broke in half and the entire mattress caved in! Please note, we aren't skinny tiny people, but we certainly do not exceed, or come close to meeting the weight limit that this bed is supposed to support. So, now only after 5 months of use, we are forced to get another frame. Once the frame started to bend, it did nothing but give us back problems anyway, because the bed was at a constant slant. We also had problems with frame moving constantly ( Ie, would slide on the floor away from the wall every night) even with little to no movement in the bed. Easy set up out of the box, poor product and quality. Spend a few extra dollars and get something that is going to last. Bought this bed frame to replace my sagging queen box springs, and glad I did. I set my mattress directly on top and use a 3" memory foam topper to smooth it out. It's firm, but you can't feel the bars through through the mattress and topper. This frame is very supportive, and very sturdy. The bed has screw hole on all sides so it's great for attachment points if you're into the kinky stuff, or if you want to attach a headboard or other decorations. The bed frame squeaks a tiny bit if you move on it just right, but overall is quieter than the box frame I had. Folds up very compact, and will be extremely convenient when I move. It seemed pricey when I bought it, but you can feel the quality in the build. This thing was designed for prison and military beds, so I don't doubt I can take abuse. The only part I don't like is the queen set is just two smaller frames linked together by a bolt with wing nuts and a plastic spacer washer. I have a feeling the plastic washers are the weak link in this bed, but so far no problems!

Update: after a year, the bed is still holding up very well, even with 500lbs of tickle wars and wrestling. No regrets at all with this purchase. I bought this bed frame in March and have used it twice since. We just throw an air mattress up there, and its so wonderful to elevate your air mattress guests off of the floor!. I am just under 5 feet tall, and I can carry each piece of the bed from the garage to the guest room by myself and set it up alone. The ease of the product is unmatched. My family are pretty small people, so we have no issues whatsoever with parts breaking, and I can't imagine them breaking either. Seems like a wonderful product for people that have limited storage space and don't want their extra room in their house to have a bed in it 24/7 when houseguests only come a few times a year. It does squeak a bit, but I have yet to figure out if its the air mattress rubbing on the metal, or the metal on metal, but if I were using this as my regular bed, I'd def throw a memory foam on it instead. And YES- you have to swing around the two "hidden" bars on either side and insert the screw into the eye for stability- which is bonkers that its not in the directions, but you figure it out. 5 stars! Bought this in December of 2010. Worked quite well for about 9 months, then the wingnuts that secure the frame bolts started to unscrew themselves. I replaced them, tighter, but didn't want to epoxy or "loc-tite" them because part of the reason I got this frame was so that it would move with me (I move often). One month later, the screws were coming out again. This became a game of tightening the screws once a week. I eventually tried spacers, washers, and a "backup nut" that would provide additional support.

This all became moot about a month after that; the center support (the entire horizontal set of legs and bars across the center) snapped right off when I pushed the bed two feet toward the wall while cleaning underneath with zero weight on it. The shearing force of its own weight snapped it. After taking a closer look, I see that the welds are *terrible*. Just itty-bitty spot welds, as if welding wire was a precious resource. I tried repairing it with an arc welder I borrowed from work, which was fine for about 3 weeks, until the corner leg snapped in a similar fashion.

So, 2 stars for lasting a year. Other than that, these are *not* well made. The concept is great, and it seems as if it *should* be strong, but the tubing is all thin and hollow, and welded only on one side of each joint. Now I have to go find a frame that's tall enough to fit my stuff underneath (the second main reason I bought this), *and* make sure it can actually perform. Very inconvenient. We bought this some time ago and it still does what it does. No unnecessary squeaks, no uncomfortable bulges - no problems. However, I should note that we do have a dog and so I was worried that the legs of the frame may bend (as to close) while he is under the bed. So, we bought some strong plastic ties from the nearest Home Depot and made sure that the legs cannot close. So far, no problem. If you do not have the space for more traditional platforms, or do not want to spend the money, then this is a very good and affordable solution. I purchased a mattress in Oct. 2011 and saw the ad for the platform that would support the mattress. The mattress is awesome but the platform that it sat on was a piece of junk! It collapsed in the middle causing the metal pieces to push up into the mattress. Needless to say, we had to put the mattress on the floor and remove the platform. There was only a one month return policy on it so we are out all the money we spent on it. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the Pragma Bed Mattress Platform. Very poor quality. We now have three of these twin size frames. We ordered a king (which wound up being two twins placed side by side) for our master bedroom memory foam mattress and ordered a twin size for use on a guest bed, also with a memory foam mattress, for out of town guests...and these are wonderful. Comfy, sturdy and a great value. Could not be more pleased. With a bed skirt the frame is completely hidden and the underbed storage these create is just tremendous. I purchased this frame in March for a memory foam mattress. Within three months it completely fell apart. The metal ties connecting the frame broke and now is useless. It was good for about 1 month before metal straps started to pop and then the main frame. Amazon should not even advertise this product and I will be attempting to recover by money.
