should i buy Handy Living Wood Slat Bed Frame reviews

Twin size metal bed frame fits standard twin size mattress. No box spring is needed with this solid steel black frame. 2-inch wide wooden birch support slats evenly distribute the mattress for a restful nights sleep. Engineered with three extra support legs, for added stability, this bed frame can hold up to 600-pounds. The bed frame measures 13-inches high and offers extra underbed storage space. Easy to assemble bed frame ships directly to your door in one box. Easy to assemble. Bed frame dimension: 38-inches wide by 76-inches long by 13-inches high. Did you read the title of my review? If so good, because seriously, a hammer will not do. You'll NEED a mallet. That said,...assembly time (1 person) is about 90 mins. Less than 60 mins if you have an electric screwdriver with hex bit attachments. There are not a lot of different pieces used to put this together, so it's pretty straight-forward.

As far as the design goes - pretty solid. This an Ikea'ish design and I like it. It's very sturdy and simple to put together. Once you DO put it together, I doubt you can take it apart - the plastic holders for the slats look like they're meant to stay in,...forever. You can easily get to the legs and remove those if your moving, but just so you know, okay? Are we cool? Yes? No? Anywayz, I'd say for the money it's a good buy. No box springs necessary since the wood slats bow upward providing that needed "cush".I bought this frame about a month ago and assembled it myself. I spent about an hour to put it together and once I set my mattress on it, I just loved it. It is so stable and sturdy and doesn't make any noise. It seems to very strong as main frame is very solid metal. Even wood slates are strong and fits very tightly on bed frame, unlike IKEA's bed slates which keep rambling all time..
I am very happy with this purchase and packing and delivery was also up to my satisfaction.
A happy customer Very happy with the bed frame. Everything was exactly as expected. The frame is of steel and went together easily. There were plenty of slats for support of the memory foam mattress we purchased from COSTCO. I was able to press the slat clips on without a mallet as instructed. A socket wrench set and power screw driver will speed up the assembly. Looks like and goes together like an IKEA product. I have already recommended this to friends. This product was easy for my husband and I to put together. Could have probably done it with 1 person, but was much easier with 2. Took us about an hour. Seems extremely sturdy - husband is about 350 lbs. and I'm about 175 and we haven't had a problem. The frame arrived quickly, packaging was adequate, assembly was average - not too difficult, final product is perfect for what I needed. The queen size fits my mattress perfectly and feels very stable and comfortable. I have never ordered something like this online before, and this is my first review of a product because of how pleased I have been with the whole experience! It took two people 30 mins to assemble. This bed frame is solid and secure. When you climb onto the bed it does not move or shift at all. Great at this price. Would purchase it again! This is a good product for the most part, however, it does have a few major drawbacks the sincerely bother me:

1) The bed frame itself is obviously engineered to be very, very strong, and it feels very sturdy once put together. However the problem for me was the wood slats that make up the support for a mattress. They come curved with a slight arch, and, at the end of each slat, you place a small plastic cap with small spikes which are driven into the frame with the mallet so many people suggest getting. The plastic caps unfortunately in my opinion are kinda flimsy, and don't hold the slats in while they bend and flex under the users/mattress' weight. So as result, they pop out and you have to bend the slats to place them back in. The slats themselves are holding just fine to be honest, as is the bed frame like I said (no squeaking, no creaking, or cracking) just cheap plastic doing what cheap plastic does. Luckily nothing has broken or snapped (so far anyway...)

2) The other drawback, even if the problem above never happens to you, is that the bed frame is not made to be taken apart once it is put together. I mean, you could remove the legs with relative ease, however, the main portion of the bed, along with the slats and their spiked caps, are not really made to be taken apart. Once you hammer the plastic caps in, that's pretty much it. They are in.

Now this isn't to say that this isn't a good buy for the money, it does its job well, if the wood slats don't pop out on you. Now this just may be an issue for me, since I am a heavy dude. But that doesn't mean that a excessive pressure, weird strains won't cause the same thing to happen, (i.e. jumping or *bouncing* on the bed, if you catch my drift...), but that aside, I have found a good solution for the problem if you simply don't have the money for another bed-frame. Simply use a strong all-binding glue to give the caps no option but to hold on. I think that Gorilla Glue works the best (probably available here on Amazon if you can't find it in a store), just glue inside the cap according to instructions on the glue itself, let it dry for an appropriate amount of time, and, voila. You should a surprisingly sturdy, and cheap bed-frame for years to come. The bed frame arrived 2 days early which was a plus since my new bed arrived the same day. The box weighed 53 lbs and was a little odd to move by myself. (I know I should've had help.) The instructions were easy to follow and the frame comes with all the nuts and bolt (+ tools) you need to assemble the bed. It took me 25 minutes to put it together. The wooden slats are made of a very light wood that felt cheap, but because there are so many of the things, I think it will hold the bed. Overall, the bed frame is what it is, a cheap and simple bed frame. If you care about looks, get a cover for the frame. This frame is simple and it works, but that is it.

PS - You do NOT need a mallet like some of the reviews and the instructions say. I found that if I leaned my weight on the slat fasteners like I was performing CPR, they popped right in place with no problems. I thought this would be easier on the bed frame than banging away at it with a mallet. I found the bedframe to be easy to assemble as the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The frame is sturdy, durable and a bargin for the price. I would recommend it.After reading some reviews I expected that this would be time consuming and challenging to put together, so I waited till I had someone to help before attempting it. It was actually very easy. Straightforward instructions, clearly labeled parts. The only thing that was a little hard on the hands was putting the plastic connections for the slats onto the frame. You're supposed to use a rubber mallet. We didn't have one but they actually went in fairly easily using the palm of my hand. It was quick to build and seems sturdy. Also much cheaper than other similar frames I looked for. Nice height even with a 10" mattress on top. I am generally pleased with this bed frame, my wife not as much. It did take awhile to put together, but that's because I am rather slow. My wife believes the corner legs are poorly designed--each one is held in place with two bolts, which allows for some wobble. Three bolts would have made for sturdier legs. Also, we are using this frame for our futon mattress. The metal bar running down the middle of the frame is noticeable with such a mattress. In general, though, the frame is solid and I am sleeping comfortably on my futon. I WOULD recommend this product to others. This bed has been great! I needed to buy a new bed, when my bedroom furniture wouldn't fit into my new bedroom. There is a ton of under bed storage space, and the bed was very easy to put together. I would recommend to anyone! Frame went together in 30 minutes using my own tools. Frame is tall and requires you to remove box springs. Mattress only yields normal height bed. Not sure how we will transport it when we move because the construction is so strong and it would take 30 minutes to completely disassemble. Good purchase and satisfied with the solid construction. Our bed is completely quiet now and rock solid.
